Moinho

This piano solo, 'Movements & Variations for Satie' is by composer / performer Moinho (aka France's Franck Marquehosse). Franck's expressiveness and noticeable skill as a composer encourages us to view his music on a similar plane to our own 130701 Records roster, but his work is by no means derivative. A real find, Franck created the Moinho project two years ago, after developing his piano skills for ten years. Since Moinho, he has performed his solo piano pieces alongside musicians such as Colleen and Le Loup and 130701's Hauschka.

In Moinho’s own words; 'my influences come from indie and electronic music, but also Arvo Part, Satie, Moondog, Philip Glass, Nina Simone, so many musicians... Last year, I created this song as a tribute to Satie, inspired by the compilation 'Erik Satie et les nouveaux jeunes' on Arbouse Recordings, feat. Dustin O'Halloran, Hauschka, Sylvain Chauveau and Max Richter.'

Moinho was in 2011 working on the recording of his first album, consisting of piano pieces. If you'd like to keep an ear out for Moinho's music, you can visit his facebook page on http://www.facebook.com/pages/Moinho/161229490615468
